15 killed and 30 injured after bus rams into truck in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa

A horrifying incident took place in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa which took life of 15 and left 30 injured. The tragedy took place after a bus carrying 60 passengers collided with a stationary truck from the rear end in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh on Thursday (Dec 5). The incident took place at around 6:30 in the morning at the Gudh Bypass. The bus driver fled the spot after the accident.

The initial death toll was 9 and 23 were injured when the incident took place. Several other passengers were trapped inside the bus. A team of police including the Police Commissioner and Superintendent of Police reached the accident site as soon as the incident reported. The ambulance reached the spot and rescue operations were carried out. After that, the numbers increased to 15 and left 30 of them injured. The injured people were taken to the government-run Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital and are undergoing treatment there. The bus was on its way to Sidhi district from Rewa.

According to the police,” “Poor visibility due to fog in the area apparently led to the accident.” The police team is making efforts to find the driver. Reports further claim that “The poor road conditions in the region and rash driving have claimed 8,295 lives so far during the calendar year.”

Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh expressed grief and shared a message through his twitter handle,” I have received the sad news about the crash of a passenger bus going directly to Rewa. I offer condolences to the families of the passengers, who died in this horrific accident.”
