The Central railway line hit due to technical glitch near Vitthalwadi station on July 17 in the morning. Hundreds of commuters were stranded in platforms and trains of various stations during the morning rush hour. Overhead wire broke down between Vitthalwadi and Kalyan station on the UP line. The wire broke down and fell on two women. They were slightly injured in this mishap. Injured shifted to the Kalyan Railway Hospital by Ticket checking staff. Railway police , rescue team and administrative officers rushed to the spot to resolve the issue as soon as possible. During this period, Central railway had arranged some shuttle trains for commuters. 8 shuttle/special services were run between Ambernath and Karjat, Khopoli and special services were planned from Kalyan, Dombivli, Thane to clear extra rush from these stations. KDMC (Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation) also arranged a special buses between Badlapur and Kalyan to ease the situation for passengers. The Central Railways used a diesel engine to pull held up local trains. Mail and express trains were also halted on the station. Technical team solved the problem after 4 hours. Train services running normally after restoration work.
