A horrifying incident took place in Uttar Pradesh on Jan 10 evening which cost several lives. The tragedy occurred after a bus caught fire just after colliding with a truck that was carrying some inflammable material. The incident took place on the GT Road stretch of the Delhi-Kanpur highway in Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh. At least 20 people charred to death and 21 got injured in this mishap. As the reports suggest, around 70 people were traveling on the bus. The death toll is expected to rise as many passengers are still missing. The bus was traveling to Jaipur from Kannauj.
As soon the fire brigade got the information of the tragedy, 15 fire tenders were sent to the spot. It took more than 2 hours for the fire personnel to douse the flames and relief operation was carried out. The fire was very huge as the truck was carrying some highly inflammable substance.
At 9.35 pm, the handle of the chief minister’s office (CMO) tweeted that CM Yogi Adityanath had taken cognizance of the accident and instructed the district magistrate and the Kannauj superintendent of police to reach the spot immediately and provide medical assistance to the affected passengers. The CM also announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the injured.
