7 killed in accident on Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Unnao

In yet another gruesome road accident, seven people lost their lives in a collision between a van and truck. The collision took place near a toll Plaza on Agra-Lucknow Expressway of Bangarmau Kotwali in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao on Sunday night. Following the accident, the van caught fire and as a result the victims were burned alive.

The victims onboard the van were bound for Shahjahanpur. The accident took place when one of the tyres of the speeding van bursted and the van hit a truck from another lane. Moments after crash, the van was engulfed in flames. Eyewitnesses stated that the victims were unable to move out of the vehicle and were entrapped inside. The accident caused ruckus on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway and led to heavy traffic jams on both the sides of the route.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took stand of the incident and has directed the district administration to provide all possible help to the family of the deceased. Accidents of this magnitude often occur when the involved vehicles reach or exceed the permissible speed limits. This particular accident was an outcome of human error rather than an infrastructural error.
