On January 16 2020, eight coaches of Mumbai Bhubaneswar Lokmania Tilak terminus express had derailed after hitting a guard van of a goods train between Salagaon and Nergundiin Cuttack, Odisha. This incident happened due to dense fog in the region around 7 in the morning.
As soon as the train coaches derailed railway authorities along with police officials and rescue team rushed to the spot. Due to this accident around 40 passengers were injured. The injured passengers were shifted to a nearby hospital for necessary treatment.
According to the officials present on the site, five coaches of he train were derailed and the three other coaches were displaced from the railway tracks. Later on, the railway authorities issued some helpline numbers at five stations to provide updates regarding the accident to the family members of the train passengers in wake of the train derailment.
Due to this train derailment incident trains on this route were affected badly. Several trains were diverted through Naraj railway station. The trains which were diverted are 12880 Bhubaneswar-LTT Express, 58132 Puri-Rourkela Passenger, 18426 Durg-Puri Express, 68413 Talcher-PURI MEMU, 12831 Dhanbad-Bhubaneswar Rajyarani Express.
