Around 30 scrap godowns were gutted in fire in Gousia Compound in Shil Dagar area of Thane district on May 15. The fire was so massive that some four-wheelers and two-wheelers parked in the locality were also gutted in the blaze. This incident took place around 3 in the afternoon.
When the locals noticed the blaze they immediately informed the fire brigade. As soon as the fire tenders were informed they immediately rushed to the spot to control the blaze. Around 7-8 fire tenders were present on the spot. The blaze was so devastating that the fire engines were called from Thane, Panvel and Navi Mumbai area. The fire tenders were struggling to douse the flames and it took a long time for the fire tenders to bring the fire under control.
Luckily there was no injury or casualty reported in this fire incident. The cause of the fire is not ascertained yet.
