At least 25 people died & 3 others injured after a bus fell into a river in Bundi, Rajasthan on Feb 26

At least 25 people were died while 3 others injured in a tragic road accident on Kota-Dausa highway in Bundi district on February 26. The mishap happened near Papdi village when a bus with 28 persons on board reportedly fell into Maiz River. The bus was on its way back to Sawai Madhopur after attending a wedding in Kota. Police personnel and rescue teams were rushed to the spot to carry out rescue and relief operation. The injured people were rushed to Lekhari government hospital for medical assistance.

The deadly accident took place around 10 am on Wednesday when a private bus carrying wedding party was traversing a bridge on Maiz River near Papdi village under Lekhari police station limits in Bundi. Reports further indicate that the driver of the vehicle lost control of it following which the bus fell into the river. Thirteen people died on the spot while the others succumbed to their injuries on way to the hospital. Meanwhile, the injured people were taken to Lekhari government hospital from where the critically injured were rushed to the government hospital in Kota.

Police personnel and teams of State Disaster Management Department were immediately rushed to the spot after being informed by the locals about this accident. Rescue teams along with divers and local residents managed to pull out the victims from the river and the bus was also pulled out with the help of a crane.

Meanwhile, the traffic movement on the Kota-Dausa highway was affected during rescue and relief operation as well as due to huge crowd which was gathered near accident spot. Moreover, the flyover did not have railing and safety wall and has reportedly led to many accidents in the past.
