A major fire broke out at a three storey residential building in the Bhiwandi area of Thane District on 23rd September. The blaze erupted in the building at around 9 am in a room on the second floor. The reason for the fire is yet to be ascertained. Reports suggested that there were almost 10 people present in the building when this fire incident took place. Three fire tenders were rushed to the spot to get control of the fire and 10 people who were stuck in the building were rescued safely and no casualties were reported in the incident. Due to the impact of the fire the second floor of the building got partly damaged. For safety reasons of the people living in the surrounding areas of the building, two petrol pumps situated near the building were shut down. The fire was doused off after 3 long hours of continuous efforts by the fire fighters.
