A frantic situation was formed during the afternoon hours of February 18, when fire ignited at the Metro Chemical Company MIDC in the city of Dombivli, Maharashtra.
According to the reports, a sudden chaos was caused when fire first ignited in a chemical drum of the factory at around 12:46 pm on February 18 and eventually started spreading. The area was soon engulfed with billowing smoke and this situation raised a wave of panic among the people. As soon as the locals saw the huge smoke coming out from the building they immediately contacted the fire department giving the information regarding the horrific situation.
Around 16 fire tenders and nine water tankers rushed to the spot after receiving the information regarding the incident. They immediately started the evacuation process soon after reaching the spot. They faced difficulties while fighting the flame due to the billowing smoke coming out from the building. But, they soon took the situation under control and after lot of efforts the fire was doused off.
According to the locals, the Abhinav Vidyalaya school which is located in the neighborhood curtailed all its afternoon classes due to the foul odour of chemicals released due to the fire.
There were no casualties or burn injuries reported in this drastic incident as the people inside the building were evacuated on time.
