Four dead and two injured in a car-gas tanker collision on Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Nov 29

At least four people were died on the spot in a collision between a car and a gas tanker on Mumbai – Pune Expressway near Rasayani, Raigad on November 29. Similarly, two more people received grievous injuries in this accident and were rushed to nearest hospital for medical assistance. The car was heading towards Mumbai when this mishap took place early on Friday morning.

The journey from Satara to Mumbai turned out to be the last one for three female members of a family and their car driver on November 29. The Swift Dezire car, in which they were returning from a wedding ceremony, rammed into a gas tanker from behind. Police sources informed that this accident happened around 4.30 am on Mumbai – Pune Expressway near Rasayani in Raigad district. Two injured car occupants were rescued by the local police with the help of highway police and Delta Force personnel. They were rushed to MGM Hospital in Panvel, Navi Mumbai for necessary treatment. However, the dead bodies were shifted to a state-run hospital for post-mortem.

The traffic movement on Expressway was affected for some time following this accident. The crash was so intense that the half portion of the car was damaged. Meanwhile, the state government is taking several preventive measures to reduce the accidents which includes reduction of speed limit to 100 kmph on Mumbai – Pune Expressway as well as deployment of the Delta Force personnel. Delta Force is a special unit which help the local police in checking crimes and curbing accidents on Expressways.
