Gunfight reported in Dantewada, two Naxals killed

Two Naxals were killed in an encounter in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh on May 8, Wednesday morning . The gunfight erupted between the security forces (Joint team of the District Reserve Guard & Special Task Force) and Naxals in Gonderas jungle in Aranpur police station area at around 5 am. This exchange fire took place when the patrolling team was moving through Gonderas, located along the border of Dantewada-Sukma districts around 450 km from here, when a group of ultras fired at them. Entire area was cordoned off by the security forces.

One INSAS (INdian Small Arms System) rifle and one 12 Bore weapon with ammunition and other incriminating materials like Maoist literature, items of daily use and other Naxal-related material recovered from the encounter site. During this encounter period, one female Maoist body was also recovered from the area.  Several other Naxals were injured in the gunfight. Around 70 to 80 rebels hide in the area. A joint team of around 260 security personnel had launched the operation.
