Landslide hits three dozen shops in Doda

A massive landslide occurred on March 13, Wednesday early in the morning in a rural market in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district. It buried nearly three dozen shops in the market. The spot of landslide 60 kms away from the town. Rescue team, local police and ambulances immediately rushed on the spot to handle the situation as soon as possible. No injuries were reported in this mishap.

According to sources, this mishap took place at Bathri market in Bhalessa area, 65 km from the district headquarters at around 4.15 am. It was like an earthquake and there was loud banging sound. People were sleeping when the ground shook. All locals ran out after this incident. A total of 14 structures, consisting of nearly three dozen shops, got buried under the landslide. Local administrative officers pressed machines to clear the debris from the road. The Gandoh-Doda road was blocked after the landslide. Traffic movement was disrupted during this clearance work.
