Major fire at Parkash Dyes & Chemicals factory in Ludhiana, Punjab.

A major fire was broken out in Parkash Dyes & Chemicals located in n Durga Colony, Phase 5, Focal Point of Ludhiana in Punjab on May 7. 10-12 fire tenders were pressed at spot to douse off the flames. The firemen struggled hard to douse the flames as chemical containers kept exploding during fire fighting operation. However there were no casualties as all workers were rushed out.

According to further details the fire broke out at 4.50 pm of May 7 in Parkash Dyes & Chemicals which manufactures and lubricants and other chemicals. The fire broke after a chemical tanker was coming out of factory was caught in fire  when it came into contact with a sudden spark from a nearby electricity pole. Tanker driver saw flames in the lubricant tanker and opened the lids which prevented the tanker from exploding. Further the flames spread to the chemical drums stored in the factory and chemical containers kept exploding.  Water sprinkled on the flames was actually stoking the fire which became obstacle for an hour to firemen during operation. Around 100-150 drums filled with chemicals were stored inside when fire broke out. The drums full of chemicals started flying in air with large number of blasts following to this, two adjoining factories also caught fire when exploding chemical drums fell on them. More than six two-wheeler were destroyed in the fire. However, the fire was brought under control after 4 hours of fire fighting operation. Production worth Lakhs of rupees was gutted into fire. Huge disruption was reported in area. Emergency services were operated at the scene under police presence.
