Major fire broke out in Surwal Byahna village in Chitrakoot on May 10.

A frantic situation was formed during the evening hours of March 10, when fire ignited at Surwal village in Chitrakoot, Rajasthan.

According to the reports, a sudden chaos was caused when fire ignited after a thunderstorm lashed over the village at around 7:30 pm. The fire soon engulfed many houses in the area causing bursting of cylinders in those houses.  Around 40 houses were engulfed in the flames. The area was soon engulfed with billowing smoke and this situation raised a wave of panic among the people. The locals immediately contacted the fire department giving the information regarding the situation.

Fire tenders soon rushed to the area along with hundreds of villagers and police personnel. They faced difficulties while fighting the flame due to the smoke and the explosion of the cylinders. But they soon took the situation under control and after lot of efforts the fire was doused off.

According to the sources, material worth millions of rupees were destroyed in this incident and many people became homeless as they were not able to go to their relative’s house due to the ongoing lock-down.
