Thane-Vashi local train derailed between Thane and Airoli station on August 11

On August 11 two coaches of Thane-Vashi local train were derailed between Thane and Airoli railway station around 7 in the evening. Due to this incident train services on this route were suspended. After the incident, the UP and DOWN trans harbour line train services were affected for hours due to which the commuters faced many issues to travel. The train was fully loaded with passengers as the incident happened during the wee hours of the day. The passengers who were present in the local train were evacuated safely from the spot of the incident.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in this incident. As soon as the train derailment was noticed by the railway staff, the concerned authorities including the TTC and CCI from Thane city immediately reached the spot. A repair team was present on the spot and they immediately started the repair work by mending the damage and rerail the local train coaches.
The incident caused inconvenience to the passengers due to which the railway authorities permitted a refund for trans harbour commuters and allowed them to travel via harbour line. Two NMMT buses were left from Vashi station for Thane via Airoli for the commuters. Due to this incident, the mega block which was scheduled on the mainline was cancelled. However, this incident let to train delays throughout the day.
