Train Services in Jammu Kashmir remain suspended on June 5 & 6 in view of Eid-ul- fitr.

Train services were suspended in Jammu & Kashmir by the railways on June 5 & 6 during the Eid festivities. The decision was taken keeping in view the past year experience when the railway properties were damaged during the Eid festivities due to the heavy rush of passengers and ill behavior towards the railway properties.

Trains were not chugging between Badgam-Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir and Banihal in Jammu region. Another reason for suspending trains in the valley was security purpose on Eid-ul- Fitr. This decision made other transportation means very busy during both days as people were visiting relatives and friends. Although, the locals were not happy with the government’s decision.

The railway authorities in Jammu & Kashmir generated advisory on the unavailability of trains on June 4 so that every citizen would be aware of that. In past years, railways used to run special train on Eid to cater to passenger rush and provide smooth functioning of transport but the huge damages in past years forced the authorities to suspend trains during the festival.
