The injured person was taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre for medical assistance. Police and fire brigade were immediately rushed to the spot after being informed about the incident. A case has been registered in this matter and an investigation has been launched.
The accident took place on Monday afternoon at Model Eye Hospital located at Lajpat Nagar in New Delhi. The 12 feet tall wall of the hospital towards the service lane was collapsed during installation of an iron mesh for construction work. Three people were trapped under the debris of the wall and were pulled out by the rescue teams. However, two of the injured people succumbed to their injuries while the other injured person was admitted to AIIMS.
It is given to understand that the lower portion of the wall which was about 6 feet; was built using mud around 25-30 years ago. Whereas, the upper portion was built with cement around 8-10 years back. Furthermore, the resident of the house next to the hospital was getting the iron mesh erected along the wall. The wall could not bear the additional weight of the iron mesh and collapsed claiming the lives of two.
Police have registered a case against the hospital for causing death due to negligence. A detailed probe will be carried out on the basis of report prepared by forensic team.
