21 coaches of North East Express derailed near Raghunathpur station in Buxar, Bihar on Oct 11

An unfortunate incident took place during the night hours of October 11, after 21 coaches of Train Number 12506, New Delhi-Kamakhya North East Express derailed near the Raghunathpur Railway Station in Buxar district of Bihar. The tragic accident occurred at around 9:35 pm as the train was on its way to Kamakhya Railway Station near the city of Guwahati in Assam.
According to the reports, the accident caused a chaos like situation at the spot as several pillars, electrical poles, signals post and both the tracks were damaged. Many trains operating on the New Delhi-Howrah main line were delayed in reaching the destination as they halted at many points. It also affected train movement on the crucial Deen Dayal Upadhyay-Howrah route, which connects Patna, Jhajha, Kiul, Jasidih and Pataliputra. The rescue team were soon deployed to the spot after receiving the information regarding the horrendous situation.
Teams of Fire Brigade, NDRF, Doctors, Ambulances, Local Police and Railway Officials soon rushed to the stop for rescue and relief operations. A scratch rake along with 6 buses were also dispatched from Patna, Bihar to ferry passengers from the accident site. Following the accident, at least 18 trains operating on the route, including the Rajdhani Express between Delhi and Dibrugarh, were diverted.
As per reports, 4 people died and 100 people are injured in this accident and were rushed to the local hospital for medical attention. Those who were severely injured were swiftly rushed to the AIIMS hospital in Patna, Bihar. Furthermore, the root cause of the derailment has still not been confirmed.
