A four-storey building collapsed in Saibaba Nagar locality of Borivali on August 19

On August 19 a building collapse incident occurred in the Borivali West area of Mumbai, Maharashtra after a four-storey building collapsed. The building was named Gitanjali apartment and was located in Saibaba Nagar locality of Borivali. The incident occurred around 12.30 in the afternoon.
As soon as the incident was reported around eight fire engines and fire brigade personnel were rushed towards the spot. As soon as the fire brigade personnel reached the incident site they immediately checked whether anyone was trapped under the debris. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
According to the BMC officials, the building was already vacated after the BMC declared it a dilapidated structure. Whereas the Mumbai fire brigade has declared this building collapse incident as L-2 level. The concerned authorities have decided to continue the rescue operation till the debris is cleared off.
Note: The incident occurred during the Dahi-handi celebrations which were in full swing in the surroundings at the same time the saviours checked the collapsed structure to ascertain if any persons were injured or trapped inside it.
