A goods train derails near the Dumraon station in Bihar


On April 9, three wagons of a goods train derailed near Dumraon station between Buxar and Ara. The Down loop line of the East Central Railway's main line section in the Danapur division of the railway was disrupted due to the disruption of train traffic along the Down loop line of the East Central Railway's main line section.


Several passenger trains were detained at several stations in the wake of the derailment in accordance with the chief public relations officer of the ECR. In the meantime, Surat-Bhagalpur Express (22947) was detained at Baruna for a few hours from 12.01 p.m., whereas Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction (DDU)-Patna passenger special (03204) was detained at Chausa for about two hours. There were also detentions at Chausa and Dildarnagar stations for the Ahmedabad-Barauni Express (19483), the New Delhi-Islampur Magadh Express (20802) and the Varanasi-Buxar passenger special (03650), respectively.


An accident relief train (ART) with crane arrived at the site from Danapur and started clearing the tracks immediately, adding that the railways issued a helpline number for Danapur (06115-232398) for anyone seeking further information on the incident.


In accordance with sources, the railways did not assign a specific cause of the derailment. Sources further revealed that the loop line tracks on the loop line were cleared by evening for smooth traffic operations, adding that a departmental inquiry will be conducted to determine the exact cause of the derailment.
