A massive fire erupted at Prashant Thermo Plastic Pvt Ltd in Navi Mumbai; one person injured


The fire erupted in the premises of Prashant Thermo Plastic Private Limited Company in Rabale MIDC in Navi Mumbai on April 14. Chaos occurred at R-447, Cross Road Number 5, MIDC Industrial area near Anthony garage when this blast happened in the evening.

The company was a manufacturer and supplier of PTFE lining, process vessels, storage tanks, reaction vessels and FRP tank.


The fire department was immediately informed regarding the menacing situation. Around 4 fire tenders from Airoli, Rabale and Kopar Khairane rushed to the spot at around 4.45 pm. After several hours, fire brought under control. The cause of fire was not ascertained so far. Unfortunately, one person was injured in this mishap. Firefighters faced problems during the rescue operation due to thick smoke. Similarly, the cooling operation was underway till two hours.


As per the fire officer of Rabale MIDC fire station, the factory manufactures fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) products and the chemical solvents being used as ingredients became fodder for the fire to spread in the entire factory.


Around 10 to 12 people evacuated themselves safely before fire spread in other area. Firefighters also prevented the fire from spreading to the adjacent companies. Later, injured identified as Amrish Kashyap (25), who had shifted to NMMC hospital in Vashi for treatment.


NMMC's disaster management team, fire tender from Thane-Belapur Industries Association and Reliance Fire brigade, police force, NMMC's Ghansoli ward office staff, MSEDCL's technical team and ambulances also reached on the spot on correct time to control the situation.
