An explosion took place in a Gujari shop in Kabadi Nallah area of Kargil on Aug 18

A frantic situation was formed during the evening hours of August 18, when an explosion took place in a Gujari shop located in Kabadi Nallah area of Dras, Kargil district, Ladakh. The explosion took place at around 8 pm when the area was crowded by people. The explosion was so massive that it shook off the entire area as the locals witnessed plume of black smoke covering the shop. The fire department and the police department were soon informed regarding the horrendous situation.
Fire tenders along with police officials soon rushed to the spot after receiving the information and started evacuating the people from nearby structures soon after reaching. The traffic was also stopped in the area due to the incident. The fire tenders faced a lot of difficulties while fighting the flame due to the billowing smoke but somehow managed to take the situation under control.
According to the reports, 3 people died and 11 people were seriously injured in the explosion. The injured were soon rushed to the hospital for medical attention. The cause of the explosion is still not known. Moreover, an FIR has also been registered under relevant sections of law at Dras police station and further investigation is in progress. Compensation under Red Cross Fund was also announced for the families of the deceased.
