An old building demolished by rain in Vidyaranyapura area of Bengaluru on May 21


On May 21 evening, an unfortunate event happened in Vidyaranyapura area of Bengaluru, Karnataka which created chaos among nearby residents. An old two-storey building located in the area was demolished by heavy rainfall. As rain lashed the city (Bengaluru) on Sunday, there was also water logging reported in many places. This tragic incident occurred around 6 pm in the city due to the thunderstorm along with this heavy rain on the same day. However, there was some relief among the nearby people as no casualties were reported in this incident. According to official reports, no person was injured or found under the debris after the building was collapsed.


The stormy rain in the area made it difficult for the people around, as it affected their normal routine activities. The people weren’t able to move out from their houses due to this rainfall accompanied with hailstorms as trees in many localities were uprooted causing blockage on roads. Some people were also reportedly got stuck in underpass in the KR circle area where severe water-logging was observed. The people who were stuck in this underpass was later on rescued by the members of the rescue team.


However, the situation in the area is not stable and heavy rain continues to lash several parts of Bengaluru on May 22 as well. There are also various disruptions caused due to water-logging in the city.
