Fire broke out at a 20-storeyed residential building in Mumbai on Jan 22



A frantic situation was formed during the morning hours of January 22, when a massive fire broke out on the 18th floor of Kamla building opposite Gandhi Hospital at Gowalia Tank in Tardeo area of Mumbai, Maharashtra. A sudden chaos was formed among the morning walker and the locals of the area at around 7:30 am when they noticed that fire has engulfed on the 18th floor of the residential building. As per the reports, several people were trapped in the menacing situation. The fire was so terrible that it raised a wave of panic among the locals as a plume of black smoke covered the area. The fire department was soon informed regarding the horrendous situation.


A total of 13 fire tenders rushed to the spot after receiving the information and started the evacuation process. The situation was soon declared as a LEVEL-2 fire. They also had to stop the traffic in the area due to the incident. The fire tenders faced a lot of difficulties while fighting the flame due to the billowing smoke but somehow managed to take the situation under control.


According to the reports, the blaze erupted on the 18th floor but quickly spread to the 2 upper floors of the building triggering panic among the building residents. Around 23 people were injured in this incident out of which 16 people have been reported to suffer with grievous burns. Moreover, 6 people also died in this incident.
