Fire broke out at firecracker stalls in Vijayawada on October 23

A massive fire broke out at firecracker stalls in Gymkhana Ground at Gandhi Nagar area of Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh on October 23. A sudden chaos was formed during the wee hours at the ground after blaze erupted at one of the firecracker stalls which was set up for the occasion of Diwali. The residents of nearby houses were startled out of their sleep after hearing the explosive sound caused by the flame. The fire was so terrible that it raised a wave of panic among the people as a plume of black smoke covered the area. The fire department was soon informed regarding the menacing situation.
Fire tenders along with local police personnel and ambulances rushed to the spot after receiving the information and immediately started evacuating people from the area. They also had to stop the traffic in the area due to the incident. The fire tenders faced a lot of difficulties while fighting the flame as the flames were spreading quickly and also due to the billowing smoke.
According to the reports, 2 people died while 2 other people were critically injured in this incident and were rushed to the hospital for medical attention. Moreover, 3 out of 19 shops were gutted in the flames. The police further investigated that two of the deceased members were asleep at one of the shops when the incident took place.
