Fire broke out in a building near Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on May 27


A tensed situation was formed during the night hours of May 27, when fire broke out on the 12th floor of Breach Candy Apartment located on the Bhulabhai Desai Road near Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, Maharashtra. A sudden chaos was formed among the commuters and the locals in the area at around 10 pm when they noticed that fire has engulfed the 2 flats on the 12th floor of the ground-plus-14 storeyed building. As per the reports, the blaze erupted after 2 cylinders exploded in one of the flat on the 12th floor and later spread to the other. Moreover, two people were also trapped in the menacing situation. The flames were so intense that it was visible from far away and plume of black smoke covered the area. This situation raised a wave of panic among the locals and the fire department was soon informed regarding the horrendous situation.


A total of 10 fire tenders along with 4 fire engines, four jumbo tankers and a turntable ladder rushed to the spot after receiving the information and started evacuation process soon after reaching. They faced a lot of difficulties while fighting the blaze due to the billowing smoke and also declared that it was a LEVEL- 2 blaze. They also had to stop the traffic in the area due to the incident. It took a lot of efforts for the fire tenders to fight the flame and after 2 hours the fire was doused off.


According to the reports, both the people who were trapped in this menacing situation were rescued by the fire tenders through the staircase of the building. No casualties or injuries were reported in this incident.
