Fire ignited at a footwear factory in Narela Industrial Area; two died & 18 injured

Two people died whereas 18 others were injured after a fire broke out in a footwear factory in Narela Industrial Area of Delhi. The incident took place at around 9.20 am on November 1. Around 10 fire tenders were immediately rushed to the spot and the fire was brought under control after four hours.
According to the locals, the flame was ignited after a drum containing polyurethane exploded as a machine was being used in the front portion of the factory. The impact of fire is said to be moderate as one of the workers was flanged out of the structure. Fortunately, the terrace gate was open and 40-50 employees jumped onto the adjacent building and escaped. Around 50 to 60 people were working in the factory when this incident happened. Chaos occurred in the area. Workers got panic situation. They quickly called the fire department.
The fire department got a call at 9.35 am regarding the blaze at E-909. The building was spread over 250 square yards. Fire was spreading rapidly on the third floor. Firemen erected a ladder on the open window frame and rescued three people by bringing them down on their shoulders. The smoke was thick due to plastic and rubber materials were being used at the factory. After four hours, the fire brought under control. All injured shifted to Ram Manohar Lohia and Safdarjung hospitals for treatment. Sonu Thakur (24) from Banka in Bihar, and Akhil Kumar (20) had lost their lives in this mishap.
