Fire ignited at furniture godown in Pune’s Gangadham; none hurt



A massive fire had erupted at a furniture godown in Gangadham area of Pune on October 25 at 8.43 pm. Around 15 fire tenders and 3 water tankers were rushed immediately at the spot to douse off the flames. No one was hurt in this mishap. The fire was brought under control at 10.22 pm and cooling process was carried out for some time in the area.


The fire had broken out at the furniture storage facility situated near Shreeji Lawns on Gangadham Road. The godown is spread over 5000 sq. ft. and contained steel utensils, large steel racks and wooden utensils. All the material was completely gutted in this blaze. Intensity of fire was too moderate. People panicked due to the sudden flame and a chaotic situation had developed in the area. Around 15 tenders and 40 firemen were deployed by Pune fire Brigade department to control the situation.The cause of fire could not be immediately ascertained. Meanwhile, police investigation is underway in this matter.
