Fire ignited in a paper plate factory in Narela Industrial area, New Delhi on Oct 9.



A tensed situation was formed during the morning hours of October 9, when a massive fire broke out at a 3-storey factory engaged in manufacturing paper plates in Narela Industrial Area, New Delhi. A sudden chaos was formed among the locals in the area after a blaze erupted in the ground floor of the building at around 7:15 am. They first tried to control the fire in the initial stage but soon the fire engulfed the building. The fire department was soon informed regarding the horrendous situation.


More than 33 fire tenders rushed to the spot after receiving the information and started evacuating the people from nearby structures. The fire was so terrible that panic spread in the surrounding factories as a plume of black smoke covered the area. Moreover, during the firefighting operations the blaze set off an explosion which collapsed a large portion of the building injuring 4 firefighters in the incident. However, the fire tenders took the situation under control and after lot of efforts the fire was doused off.


According to the reports, 3 firefighters got burnt in the incident while 1 fireman got leg injury. All the 4 injured firefighters were soon rushed to Ganga Ram Hospital for medical attention. No other casualties were reported in this incident.
