Fire under Vile Parle (East) flyover caused traffic snarls on Nov 8

Commuters faced a tough time after an abandoned vehicle parked below the Vile Parle (East) flyover caught fire on November 8.
An abandoned vehicle parked below the Vile Parle (East) flyover caught fire on the evening of November 8 at around 4 pm. The blaze engulfed a few scrap vehicles parked under the Andheri-Vile Parle Bridge close to the Sahara Hotel of Mumbai.
Fortunately, no casualty was reported in this incident whereas, the traffic on this route was affected moderately. Due to this fire incident, traffic snarls on the highway gave commuters a tough time.
According to the sources, as soon as the blaze was reported, two fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse off the flames.
Sources further revealed that a fire erupted in one of the abandoned vehicles which soon spread to others. The blaze was doused off within 15-20 minutes.
As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), around 25 auto rickshaws and 20 other private vehicles were destroyed in the blaze that was categorized as level 1.
The cause of the fire is yet to be identified. Whereas, a detailed investigation is underway as the vehicles were impounded for various offences, according to the Vakola traffic division.
