Massive fire ignited in Baraeily’s Ashok foam factory; 7 died


A massive fire broke out in Ashok foam factory in Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh on May 10. A sudden chaos was formed during the evening hours on Delhi- Lucknow National Highway in Jerh village after blaze erupted. The residents of nearby places gathered on the road. The fire was so massive that it raised a wave of panic among the people as a plume of black smoke covered the area. The fire department was soon informed by the locals regarding the situation.


6 fire tenders along with local police personnel and ambulances rushed to the spot at 7 pm after receiving the information and immediately started evacuating people from the area. They also had to stop the traffic in the area due to the incident. The fire tenders faced a lot of difficulties while fighting the flame as the flames were spreading quickly. Several people were trapped inside the structure.


Fire tenders and the rescue team were present at the spot from Bareilly, Faridpur and Parsakheda.


According to the reports, 7 people died in this incident and others 6 were rushed to the hospital for medical treatment. Around 100 workers were working inside the factory during this mishap took place. Fire brought under control after 9.30 pm.


The police have registered a case against factory owners and his nephew, manager Ajay Saxena and a few unidentified persons under IPC section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder.


The deceased were identified as Arvind Mishra (22), Rakesh Kumar (34), Anoop Kumar (25), and Akhilesh Shukla (26).
