One died while three injured in Bankas’ Madarsa blast on June 8

A massive blast took place in the Madarsa premises under Nagar police station area in Nautolia area of Banka district in Bihar at 8 am on June 8. One person died while three others were injured in this blast. The Madarsa authority, fire brigades, ambulances, local police and rescue team had reached the spot as soon as the incident happened. Bomb squad, dog squad, forensics team and Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) also reached immediately. The rescue operation was carried out to search the body of cleric from the debris. Police took the body into custody and sent it for the postmortem. The rescue operation continued for few hours and was called off in the evening.
It is further indicated that the Madarsa and Mosque was closed due to lockdown when this incident happened. The roof of Madarsa was collapsed due to intensity of the blast. In this explosion, one Imam (cleric) died due to suffocation who was a resident of Deoghar districts in Jharkhand. Injured persons were shifted to the nearby hospital with the help of police team.
According to the sources, the explosion happened due to a crude bomb kept in a container near the gate in a room of the Madarsa. Police team had seized Rs 1.65 lakh from the cupboard of cleric who died in the blast. They also found a piece of twine, nail and container from the spot. There was no evidence to prove a terror angle in this incident. The investigation team did not find any RDX from the explosion site. An improvised explosive device (IED) also not detected from the debris as well. Mosque was illegal and it built on private land. It was also not registered with the education department.
