Portion of an under-construction factory collapsed in Ghaziabad’s Loni


A portion of an under- construction factory collapsed in Roop Nagar area at Loni Industrial area in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. This tragic incident occurred at around 4.30 pm on February 19. Around 16 people were trapped under the debris when this incident happened. The panic situation occurred among the locals. The rescue teams were deployed in the area after receiving the information. This portion collapsed when the shuttering was being installed, suddenly fell and many labourers got trapped under the debris.


The fire department quickly rushed to the spot and immediately started the rescue operation. The authorities with help from the locals of the area managed to evacuate all the people. The rescue team faced problem while removing the debris as the incident spot was crowded with people. Police team, dog squad and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) also reached the spot.


Two people died while six others were rescued from the area. 11 people injured in this mishap. All the injured immediately shifted to GTB hospital for treatment. Later, debris had cleared from the road. The rescue operation completed by 10.30 pm.


The two labourers who died were identified as Rajesh Das (30), a resident of Bareilly, and Mohammad Sameer (45), who was from Loni.
