The Delhi police imposed Section 144 around Supreme Court and in the New Delhi district on August 19 after CBI raided Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s residence. Earlier, Section 144 was imposed around Manish Sisodia’s residence and the Mathura road area in the national capital.
The police officials detained around 70 to 80 protestors including four AAP MLAs and one former MLA who gathered outside the deputy CM’s residence. Whereas, security arrangements have been beefed up at the Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party office fearing protest by Aam Aadmi Party.
As per the sources, the CBI searched around 21 locations, including the residence of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. Seven states and union territories were searched by the CBI in connection with its probe into alleged irregularities in the Delhi Excise Policy, which raised tensions between the Government and the Aam Aadmi Party, which claimed the agency was following directions from above.
