Two Earthquake Tremors Strike Maharashtra’s Palghar on May 27

Two mild earthquake tremors with magnitudes of 3.5 and 3.3 on the Richter scale rocked Maharashtra's Palghar on May 27 sending shock waves throughout the region. The National Centre for Seismology confirmed that the first tremor struck at 5:15 PM, followed by a second, less powerful one at 5:28 PM. The epicentre of the first quake was located at a depth of 10 kilometres, while the second quake's epicentre was even shallower, at only 5 kilometres.
Many Palghar residents were understandably anxious in the aftermath of the tremors. However, experts provided reassurance that they do not expect any damage or aftershocks.
The incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of earthquakes and the need for effective emergency preparedness measures. While it is fortunate that there have been no reports of damage, it is important for residents of Palghar to remain vigilant and heed any further warnings from experts.
Note: Apart from the National Center for Seismology, the Palghar district collector’s office also confirmed the tremors. However, there have not been any reports of damage.
