Two injured in a twin blast in J&K’s Udhampur


A high-intensity mysterious explosion reported in a parked bus in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on September 28. Another same blast was occurred in a bus at the old bus stand in the district after eight hours. Two people were injured in this blast. Search and investigation operation was carried out by the security forces.


These two massive blasts took place in the Domail area of Udhampur district. The first blast was reported at 10.30 pm on September 28 in the bus which was parked near a petrol pump. Another blast happened at Udhampur bus stand at 6 am on September 29. Both blasts were occurred in the empty buses.


After this incident, the local police team, rescue team and ambulance were immediately rushe to the spot. Army Bomb Disposal Squad, as well as officers & dog squad, also reached the incident site. The police had cordoned off the entire area. The rescue team and police quickly shifted the injured people to the Udhampur district hospital for treatment. Several other vehicles were also damaged in this blast. According to the sources, the roof of the bus was damaged, while window panes of several nearby vehicles were also damaged. In the second blast, no injury or damages were reported. After this mishap, the district administration had issued high alert on Udhampur-Ramnagar road. Additional police forces were deployed in the district and at all entry and exit points. The investigation was carried out in the city. The reason for the blast is still not known. NIA officials have been sent to the spot.


As per source, blasts were occurred ahead of the three-day visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Jammu and Kashmir during the first week of the coming month. He will pay obeisance at Mata Vaishnodevi shrine in Trikuta Hills near Katra town, besides addressing public rallies in the border district of Rajouri and Baramulla during his stay in the Union Territory.
